Theme: 

How to launch a successful career in academics?

— Tenure, promotion, research, publications, mobility, and politics in the digital age

Agenda (half day on day 1):

  1. Keynote speech on academic career in the US or western countries (30 min)
  2. Keynote speech on academic career in Greater China and Asia (20 min)
  3. Career and life as a female faculty – how to succeed in academics (15 min)
  4. Panel on tenure, promotion, publications, and politics (45 min)
  5. Round table discussions divided into three groups: (1) tenure/promotion/mobility, (2) research/journals/publications, (3) teaching, online/offline. (45 min in parallel)

Audience:

  • Junior faculty (assistant professors, pre-tenure) working in academics
  • PhD students who are close to graduation on the job market (on the way to become assistant professors)
